[:en]One of the most common questions we are getting at The Workout Club Ibiza is which workout burns the most calories. Unfortunately the answer to this question is not as easy as it may seem. There are multiple factors that can influence this.
We have a couple of workouts for you that help you to burn calories. Are you ready?
HIIT Training (High-Intensity Interval Training)
The HIIT training keeps on getting more and more popular. This high intensity training is made of short intense movement followed up by periods of rest. HIIT is very efficient in burning calories and increasing cardiovascular fitness. According to studies HIIT workouts help you burn 25-30% more calories than other forms of exercise such as running, weightlifting or cycling.
CrossFit
Then you have CrossFit. CrossFit is also a high-intensity workout with different kinds of workouts such as running, lifting weights and gymnastics. It is made to push you to your limits and really challenge your body. CrossFit is intense and is maybe not the easiest sport to start with if you are a beginner. It is very effective in burning calories though. A typical workout can burn up to 15 calories per minute. It doesn’t seem like a lot but can add up quickly.
Cycling
Another energizing way to burn those calories is cycling. Especially if you ride at a high intensity, like spinning or cycle racing. If you weigh 70 kg you can burn up to 500 calories if you cycle at a moderate pace. If you speed it up, you can burn about 700 calories an hour.
Running
Going for a run is a perfect way to burn calories and improve cardiovascular fitness. If you weigh 70 kg you can burn approximately 300 calories in a 30 minute run at a still easygoing moderate pace. If you speed up, you can burn up to 450 calories per 30 minutes.

Swimming
Swimming sounds low-impact, but can burn a lot of calories as well. A person of 70 kg can burn up to 400 calories by swimming for one hour at a moderate pace. If you go faster you can burn up to 700 calories an hour.
How much you burn depends on different factors such as your condition, your weight and the intensity of your workout. However, a high intensity workout such as the HIIT, CrossFit, cycling, running and swimming are good ways to burn calories and improve your condition. It is important to find the balance between enjoyment, intensity and duration. If you choose something you like, it is more likely to get the results you want.
