It’s never to late to start a fitness program in IbizaVirgil Brewster
Some say “better late than never” and this saying definitely applies when it comes to joining a new sports program.
When I look at my neighbours 65 and over 70 years old, and who inspired me to write this blog post, I get the averment over and over again. They are both active every day with all kind of sports and activities to keeping themselves young and vital. And you have to believe me…. Vital they arel!!
One of them joins women’s fitness classes twice a week for 1.5 hours and besides that she works in her huge garden and she likes to hike. The other, over 70 years old, practices Tai Chi daily, stretches her muscles every morning when she wakes up, goes to sword classes weekly and still carries her 5 litres water jars to her home, second floor no elevator and another lady of 53 takes 3 times a week personal training sessions.
When getting older, from the age of 40…. OMG I’m 40 NOW, it really starts to show… Sports helps that the ageing process slow down and it helps against all annoying traits that you will notice when getting older such as:

– Muscle mass decreases
– stiffness and rigidity
– Osteoporosis increases
– Reduced fitness

– Memory deteriorates
– Decreased sleep
Regular exercise or active movement can reduce the process and it may reduce the risk of diseases. It is also keeps the mind strong and the state in positive balance. A healthy body and mind recover quicker from diseases, give energy, keep you fit, and overall promote a sense well-being. High cholesterol and blood pressure, heart problems, anxiety and depression are less amongst people who practice sports and it keeps older people independent for longer.
Good! Because we all need to stay active whilst getting older. If you are over 45 years old, I advise you to first take a sport test to determine overall body fitness and an assessment with a professional to record your health history. As soon as the results are positive you can start a sports program and work, with baby steps, towards your goal.
