Isn’t it amazing how many new diets are constantly coming onto the scene? They all sound great, don’t they? And they work….well, for a while!!!
Do you need to diet?
If you follow a calorie-restricted diet, you will lose weight…guaranteed. But the problem is, most of us do not possess the will-power or the dedication to follow such a restrictive and intrusive lifestyle for more than a few weeks at a time, and here at The Workout Club Ibiza, we say life is too much fun for those kinds of limits on our food and eating! We promote 3 times a week group personal training good an healthy nutrition and of course plenty of rest to recover.
That’s why we support intermittent fasting as a very effective way of losing weight and actually maintaining caloric balance long-term.
Sometimes the idea of fasting can seem overwhelming and daunting, but it really doesn’t have to be that way. The Workout Club Ibiza’s recommendation for fasting is super-easy and does not interfere with the fun of eating, which is something we believe very strongly in…we love eating good food!!
In dozens of scientific studies, short-term intermittent fasting has been shown to have many health benefits…even if you fast for just 24 hours, once or twice a week.
This can decrease your calorie intake by 20-30% without having to sacrifice or restrict what you like to eat. Some of the amazing health benefits of intermittent fasting are:-
• Decreased body fat & body weight
• Maintenance of skeletal muscle mass
• Decreased blood glucose levels
• Decreased insulin levels & increased insulin sensitivity
• Increased lipolysis & fat oxidation
• Increased Uncoupling Protein 3 mRNA
• Increased norepinephrine & epinephrine levels
• Increased Glucagon levels
• Increased growth hormone levels.
Keep it Simple
It’s so simple! You can start your fast on Monday by eating a normal, healthy dinner at 6 pm, then fast for 24 hours. Feel free to drink lots of water, herbal teas, or even normal tea and coffee without milk while you are fasting. Before you know it, it will be time for you to eat normally again at 6 pm on Tuesday. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that because you have completed your fast, you need to reward yourself with extra-large helpings of desserts!! The key here is self-control…just continue to eat as you normally would, and you will find that intermittent fasting once or twice a week will provide you with a very effective way to lose weight.
